Hi, I’m Rayne. I’m just a mom of two who got into birding and backyard wildlife watching here in New Hampshire back in 2023, and it turned into a full-blown obsession. What started with one trail camera propped against a tree to see who was raiding the bird feeder has grown into a small home base for gear I actually use: I now run 3 trail cameras and a dedicated birding camera around the property, year-round.
How I Test Gear
When I recommend something in a gear guide or blog post, it’s because it earned a spot in my own backyard setup first. I test cameras the way anyone actually living with one would (mounted outside through New England’s full range of weather, from humid summer nights to sub-zero winter mornings), watching for the stuff that matters most: trigger speed, night vision quality, battery life in the cold, and how easy it actually is to get the photos off the thing.
My family enjoys the outdoors together too: hiking, birdwatching, and geocaching are regular weekend activities around here. Follow along to see what’s turning up in my backyard this week.
