My favorite binocular. I brought both pairs of my Nocs to a friend’s lake house last weekend and the first thing she mentioned was “Holy crap, these are CRYSTAL clear!”
She went on to say that she has a pair of bulky, heavy binos that don’t have half the zoom, or clarity that the Nocs have.
Decisions, decisions. Nocs has multiple different binoculars. If you’re trying to decide between Nocs binoculars, think of them like choosing between a compact camera, a mirrorless camera, and a professional DSLR.
Standard Issue (8×25 or 10×25)
Best for: Casual hikers, travelers, campers, and first-time binocular owners
- Small enough to fit in a jacket pocket
- Lightest binoculars Nocs makes
- Most affordable option (around $100)
- Waterproof and rugged
- Great for spotting wildlife on the trail, concerts, sporting events, and travel
- Tradeoff: Not as bright or detailed as larger models, especially at dawn or dusk
Choose these if: You want binoculars you’ll bring with you every day.
Field Issue (8×32, 10×32, or 8×42/10×42)
Best for: Birdwatchers, wildlife enthusiasts, and serious outdoor adventurers
- Larger lenses let in more light
- Sharper, brighter image
- Better performance at longer distances
- Still relatively lightweight and packable
- Available in 8x or 10x magnification
- Tradeoff: Larger and heavier than the Standard Issue
Choose these if: You regularly look for wildlife and want noticeably better image quality without carrying full-size binoculars.
Pro Issue (8×42 or 10×42)
Best for: Dedicated birders, hunters, and optics enthusiasts
- Largest lenses and best image quality
- Brightest view in low light
- Better edge-to-edge clarity
- Premium glass and coatings
- Excellent for sunrise, sunset, and long-distance viewing
- Tradeoff: Largest, heaviest, and most expensive (around $330)
Choose these if: Wildlife viewing is a hobby, not just something you do occasionally.
Which One Would I Recommend?
| If you are… | Buy |
|---|---|
| Casual hiker or traveler | Standard Issue 8×25 |
| Trail camera enthusiast, wildlife watcher, outdoor creator | Field Issue 8×32 |
| Serious birder or hunter | Pro Issue 8×42 |
For someone like you who enjoys trail cameras, wildlife, hiking, and outdoor adventures, the Field Issue 8×32 is probably the sweet spot. It offers a much brighter, more detailed image than the Standard Issue without the bulk of the Pro Issue. It’s the model most people end up keeping for years because it balances performance and portability extremely well.
